5 Top Tips on What Makes a Good Brand

5 top tips on what makes a good brandTime can run away with you when running your business as well as trying to juggle everything else in between. Therefore, if you’re just starting out in business or have been in business for a number of years now, make sure your brand identity has been developed and is true to your business.

A lot of clients who I work with say that once they get their new logo design from me, they feel as though they are now heading in the right direction with their business and it’s given them a real boost to move forward with everything.

Here are my 5 top tips on what makes a good brand:

1. Brand consistency

This is so important! Without brand consistency you won’t have a consistent and professional image to portray and you won’t have a consistent brand voice either. To achieve brand consistency, make sure the same colours, fonts and alignment are used throughout everything. This achieves not only consistency, but also instant recognition too.

2. A strong, professional logo design

You can’t have a brand without a logo design. The logo design is effectively the face of the business and usually includes a symbol of some sort, your business name styled in a nice font and the colours that have been used relating to what you do and the industry you’re in. It should also have a concept behind it too.

3. Professional photography

There’s something about having professional photographs of you, your products and/or services that you offer that exude professionalism. Professional photographers will make it their mission to understand your brand, your values and personality to ensure the photographs they take are ‘on brand’. I love working with professional photographs in print design and branding because it makes a massive difference in the look and feel for everything.

4. Clear and concise brand communication

This is where your brand voice comes in. Your brand needs to communicate to its audience in a consistent and friendly manner according to your brand values and personality. It also needs to portray your brand message in a clear and simple way that everyone can understand and relate to.

5. Confidence to stand out and be different

A good brand is confident in their offering. As a business owner, a lot of challenges can be daunting, but don’t let them beat you! There is nothing wrong with standing out and showing that you are different. How else are you going to get noticed? In a room full of people, would you rather be the person hiding in the shadows not speaking to anyone, or would you rather be the person putting themselves out there, talking to everyone and feeling empowered by who they are and what they do? I know which one I’d like to be and it’s definitely not the first one.
